Letter from James Somers Smith Jr. in Woodfield, Hatfield, Herts., England, to his Mother in London, Dec. 29, 1877
Dear Mother
I am all right are you? Miss Eve, Mrs Smith, & Mr. Morris (a gentleman who is staying here) are going to hear a person recite Midsummer Nights Dream but I thought I would wright (to you) & play Billiards with Mr Smith. I played Billiards last night & this morning. This morning it rained, & I am in a great hurry.
Mr Eve has gone to Bath. I will write to father & direct it to you so you can read it & then direct it to him. Everything for me send it. I am having a very nice time. Trixkie goes to bed with me.
So Miss Eve will see the old Year out I guess. I don’t know what more to say so good by.
Somers
